Week 9

I began with week 9 this morning after an 8 day recovery week.  Chest and back this morning and the Diamond push ups kicked my butt.  I really like this workout and plan to do the abs ripper after honors band auditions tonight.

There is halloween candy all over my house and I have been unable to resist.  Malted milk balls taste way too good.  I been afraid to step on the scale the last three days due to the candy consumption.  I am planning on taking some photos for day 60 in the workout cycle.  Congratulations goes to Bob Rizzo for finishing the P90X series.  I will be there in a month.

recovery week - Day 50

It is technically past day 50 but that is where I am in the P90X routine schedule after repeating a week and missing a few days here and there.  156.2 this morning.  This is a new low.  I haven't been this light in over five years.

I am currently baking apple muffins from scratch.  Honey has replaced sugar and whole wheat flour and chopped apples are the main ingredients.  I will let you know how they taste.

I made it through yoga twice this week.  Today is Core Synergystics.  I haven't done this workout in a month.  It will be fun to get back to it.

I am getting to a crisis point in my dress pants.  I do not have any that fit and all three belts that I own have become obsolete.  I am happy about this but it will cost me money.

Physical change

This morning doing the plyometrics workout, I noticed something about my clothing that was different.  When my shirt got all sweaty, it was hanging off my pectoral muscles instead of sticking to my stomach.  This is a good feeling.  My chest is further out than my gut.

This was a crazy week at work, so I am going to repeat week 7  before having my recovery week.  I plan on continuing the videos through the winter so it won't be a big deal to repeat a week.  It was great to talk to Bob Rizzo about his workouts and the positive changes he has seen.  Rob Heichel has just begun the workouts this week.  I am excited to talk to him and gets his take on it.

Fast Food - I ate Burger King with the kids on Wednesday before District Jazz auditions - Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Fries, and a Coke.  My body was hating me for the rest of the evening.  That is the first fast food I have had since beginning this workout.  I guess I am done with greasy fries and soda for a while.

I weighed in this morning at 157.6.  Five lbs since beginning the workouts and 11 lbs since May. I am getting to the point that I may need some new pants.

tough week

The beginning of the week was ugly.  I missed Tuesday and Wednesday due to exhaustion and feeling a little under the weather.  On Tuesday I went to bed at 8:00 pm.  On Wednesday I just didn't feel like working out.  So, now two more days behind, I am doing P95X.  I still feel pretty good about working out 45 of the last 50 days.  I am half way through week 3 of the second cycle.  I feel good about my strength improvements.  I changed to 15 lbs dumbbells this morning for most of the biceps exercises.  I like knowing that I can measure my improved strength by bigger weights.  On Tuesday I will begin another recovery week.  I am going to skip a rest day to try to get back to P94X.  I finally found a protein bar that I like and my lunch appetite has finally decreased to around 500 calories.  On a physical note,  Mandy had a vein pop out of her bicep this morning.  I am still searching for my veins.

Day 40 pictures

Work vs. workout

As life becomes busier I am finding these two elements, work and workouts, are becoming more adversarial to each other.  I still have the choice to get up at 5:00 and do the workout.  That is true.  However as the work days become longer with after school obligations, the energy level needed to perform well has become more of a struggle.  This morning I am about to set up, with my students' help, 1,650 chairs and label them for the ALF Parade.  Then I will walk two miles and stand for another two hours.  After that, I hope I can have the motivation to do legs and back.  If it was anything but legs it would be no problem.  We'll see how it goes.
